Unemployment in youth

The present high level of youth unemployment is another factor which hinders the choice of the correct education. On the one hand the prospect that no job will be found may strongly reduce the motivation to take courses and to learn a set of skills belonging to a certain profession. On the other hand the fear of becoming unemployed may also lead to the choice of an education with which the prospect of work slightly increases, but for which there is actually not much interest. Especially now, because it is not likely the unemployment problem will be solved overnight, it is important to choose an education which complements and expands upon one’s own interests and is also valuable should the adolescent face unemployment and need to pass the time meaningfully.
